First Units Shipping + New Store!

WakeMates are shipping!

Thank you so much for your continued patience.  We wanted you to know we are currently shipping WakeMates to our very first customers. As previously mentioned, because of high demand we will not be able to fill all orders at once. Rest assured, though: all orders will be fullfilled in the coming months!

Due to the huge demand and issues with large scale manufacturing (mostly sourcing large numbers of parts), we will be fulfilling orders in batches as quickly as we can. As far as we know, this is not a conspiracy organized by the caffeinated beverage industry to keep these units out of your hands!

Here's an overview of all current (rather conservative) ship dates:

  • Orders placed after November 15th and before January 22nd will ship by July 30th.
  • Orders placed after January 22nd and before March 31st will ship by August 30th.
  • All orders place after March 31st and into the future (until noted otherwise) will ship by September 30th.

These are conservative estimates; we want to provide firm dates rather than overly hopeful guesses going forward. We are confident we can deliver many orders sooner and will continue working day and night to ship all pending orders as soon as possible.

We can't thank everyone enough for your continued support (but we'll try -- thank you!). We're very excited to finally ship these WakeMates and help you all get a great night's sleep.

New Store!

We've just launched our new online store at https://secure.wakemate.com/store/, which also gives a sneak peak at our new brand design. The current site is, admittedly, a bit dated so we came up with a whole new look and decided to apply it to our store first. If you've already ordered a WakeMate, don't worry: you needn't do so again (though we certainly wouldn't complain!)

An Update on Our Pre-Order Email

In our our previous email we warned about a delay in shipping WakeMates to our pre-order customers. To compensate customers for the delay we proposed to give them some future premium features for free. Unfortunately we weren't clear enough about this, and some customers thought it was an attempt to charge them more.

So let's try this again:
  1. The current delay is due entirely to changes in our hardware and software, and manufacturing issues caused by the volume of orders we've received; it is in no way related to the development of premium features.
  2. Regardless of future premium add-ons, customers who have pre-ordered WakeMates will never have to pay to use online analytics, nor will any customer receive an inferior product for not doing so. We apologize for giving the impression that anyone might.
  3. We hope we will be able to start shipping the first units next month, but since we're still learning the ropes of large-volume manufacturing, we don't want to make any promises we're not sure we can keep. We appreciate your patience and we'll keep you updated.
  4. To make up for the frustration and confusion, we're going to give all pre-order customers who received the email future premium software features free of charge.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to email preorder@wakemate.com directly.

Sincere apologies for the confusion,

The WakeMate Team

How to improve your sleeping habits

While the best way to improve sleep is with the WakeMate, I wanted to share with you guys a few of the most important ways to getting a better night's sleep.
Windows!

Our sleeping schedules are based on natural light. The best thing to do is to get outside but if you find yourself spending large amounts of time inside, try to work near a window so your body knows what time it is. It'll help you feel more alert in the morning and tired at night.

Stay Regular.

Just like with your digestive tract it's important to go to bed and wake up at the same time everyday. It helps you fll asleep quickly and avoid using the snooze button in the morning. If going to bed at the same time isn't an option at least try to wake up on a regular schedule. Sleeping in on the weekends may feel good but it makes it that much harder to get out of bed when Monday comes around.

If you can't sleep, don't.

Lying in bed worrying about sleep creates stress which compounds the problem. Unless you have sleeping problems your body is trying to tell you that it's not tired. Get out of bed and do something else. Your bed is meant for sleeping. Don't confuse your body by doing other things there... well some things are ok ;-) .

Things to avoid before bedtime.

Exercise, large meals, computer screens, caffiene (duh.) and alcohol. Cutting these things out even 30 minutes before bedtime can make a big difference.
